“Jo, I’m sorry,” he said.

“Fine,” she replied, not looking at him.

“God, what do you want me to say?” His jaw was

clenched so tight he thought he might actually chip a

tooth.

“It’s not what you say, but whether you mean it.”

When she finally looked up, her cheeks were flushed.

She was very rarely angry, but when she did get

upset it was a sight to behold. Her usually soft brown

eyes flashed, her dusky complexion glowed, and she

practically vibrated with energy. She was frightening

and awe inspiring, and much to his chagrin, sexy as

hell. Even more disappointing for him as he tried to

navigate the dangerous ground he’d found himself

on—he was developing a raging hard on. Looking

down discreetly at his pants he sent a silent message of

rebuke, this was not the time.

“I said I was sorry and I mean I’m sorry, Jo-Jo.”

“Don’t think using Jo-Jo now is going to make

up for your bad behavior.” Her waspish tone sliced

through the air.

“I thought you were all about forgiveness and

second chances,” he sneered, not caring his tone was

probably going to wind her up more.

“You… I…” She sputtered and eventually just

growled in frustration.

He smirked as she sat in her chair breathing

heavily with anger. Shifting in his seat to

accommodate the rock solid bulge in his pants, Dax

waited for her to strike again. He’d kept this part of

himself locked away for so long that now that it was

out he couldn’t help reveling in it a bit.

“You’re fucking with me,” she stated looking at

him quizzically.

“Such language, Jo,” he replied.

“I’ll show you language,” she shouted before she

started showing him just how extensive her vocabulary

had become since she’d gone on her sabbatical.

Shaking his head and tsking, Dax crossed his

arms over his chest and just stared at her. She was

waving her hands and shooting fire from her eyes as

she read him the riot act. All Dax could do was smirk

and nod his head.

“You…you…”

When she started gathering up her things and

moved toward the exit, Dax realized he may have gone

too far. Leaping from his seat, he caught her before

she could leave, and wrapped his hand around her

wrist.

“You better let me go, Dax Elver,” she

threatened.

“Jo, calm down.”
